If you are seeing this page, you've been invited in and we'd love to have your participation!

Project and Submission Requirements

Projects should be submitted into the Virtual Dreams Google Drive Project folders (request access, and you'll be added by our administrators, and coupled with a team).

Credit pages and attributions should list the Virtual Dreams student project designers first, with development supporters listed next (everyone who participates gets credit, and will be encouraged to add these projects to their portfolios and resumes).

Code of Conduct:

Create, Learn, Play — Together

The Virtual Dreams Hackathon is a collaborative learning space built on creativity, curiosity, inclusion, and mutual respect. We are here to support each other as creators, teammates, and community members.

By participating, you agree to help create an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe to learn, experiment, and contribute.

Expectations:

  • Be Respectful
  • Treat everyone with kindness and professionalism.
  • Different backgrounds, skill levels, identities, and perspectives strengthen creative work.
  • Support Collaboration
  • Help others learn. Share knowledge generously.
  • Listen to teammates, communicate clearly, and make space for everyone to participate.
  • Encourage Beginners
  • Many participants may be trying XR, game development, design, or hackathons for the first time.
  • Be patient, encouraging, and constructive.
  • Give Constructive Feedback
  • Critique ideas respectfully, not people.
  • Feedback should help others improve and grow.
  • Respect Personal Boundaries
  • Ask before touching someone’s equipment, projects, or personal space.
  • Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or unwanted behavior will not be tolerated.

 Keep It Inclusive

We welcome participants of all backgrounds and experience levels.

Discrimination based on identity, appearance, disability, race, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality, or skill level is not acceptable.

Take Care of the Space

Help keep the lab clean, organized, and functional for everyone.

Use shared resources responsibly.

Prioritize Wellbeing

Take breaks, stay hydrated, eat food, and look out for each other.

If someone seems overwhelmed or uncomfortable, check in respectfully or notify staff.

During the Hackathon

  • Collaboration is encouraged.
  • Ask questions freely.
  • Experimentation and unfinished ideas are welcome.
  • Credit contributors for their work.
  • AI tools, assets, and external resources should be disclosed honestly when presenting projects.

If Problems Arise

If you experience or witness harmful behavior, please speak with a mentor, organizer, or staff member. Organizers may intervene or remove participants whose behavior harms the safety or wellbeing of others.

Our Goal

Virtual Dreams exists to help people build skills, community, confidence, and creative futures together.

We succeed when participants feel supported, inspired, and proud of what they create.
